Against his old club of course - he debuted for Middlesex back in 1987 aged 17 of course.

Piling up runs against less than mediocre attacks, conquering the same territory year in year out, setting the same record books on fire endlessly; against the backdrop of a forgettable international career-the real stage-would surely fleck his satisfaction with a touch of ambivalence and melancholy!

Very harsh Gondal. The 'mediocre' attacks you speak of in English County cricket over the years have included the best bowlers in the world: Donald, Waqar, Kumble, Mustaq, Warne, etc. etc.

Fair to say Ramps never quite did it as a test player, but certainly not fair to take away from his performances in county cricket. Same goes for Mr Hick........
